Liaison in connection technology: Luther advises Cembre on acquisition of Ikuma

Stuttgart - The German division of Cembre S.p.A., one of the largest European manufacturers of electrical connectors, has acquired Ikuma GmbH & Co. KG - also a supplier of solderless connection technology. Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft assisted Cembre in the planning and execution of the transaction.

Since May 3, Ikuma GmbH & Co. KG and Ikuma Verwaltungs GmbH belong to Cembre. The Cembre GmbH based in Munich - subsidiary of the Italian Cembre S.p.A., Brescia - has acquired all shares of the Ikuma Group located in Weinstadt east of Stuttgart.

The acquisition was financed entirely from Cembre's own funds. Luther provided the connector specialist with legal support from an interdisciplinary team. In addition to M&A advice, experts from the areas of commercial, employment law, IP/IT, tax law and antitrust law were consulted to pave the way for the complex deal.

The electrical connection material as well as the tools and machines from Cembre are used in track construction, in electrical and lighting systems as well as in the field of power generation. Ikuma has a similar portfolio. The company supplies a number of distributors in the German market and is considered one of the most important German suppliers of cable terminations. The technology can be found, for example, in electric motors, rail vehicles, wind turbines and elevators.
